The Garden keeps on growing...

The Garden keeps on growing...

The Vegetable garden continues to thrive at First Step Right.

The children take it in turns to water the plants, and have a rota in place so all play a part in maintaining the garden. They share tips with each other on the best way to water, and are learning so much through being involved in the project. It's brilliant that they are so involved, learning invaluable life skills - what a wonderful opportunity for them.

So far they've harvested spinach and have prepared beetroot, which they will keep aside for their celebratory graduation meal!

Christmas begins

Christmas begins

Over the past 5 weeks we have been busy here at GAGA, selling South African craft and jewellery items, with all proceeds coming to GAGA UK.

When Sarah or Charlie visit South Africa, they come back with a stock of goodies to be sold on. The purchases in South Africa, provide a much needed income for women, as well as men, crafters in poor, rural areas of Kwa Zulu Natal. We then bring back the items and sell them at various events throughout the year.

In the past 5 weeks we have attended the Worcestershire WI Annual Council Meeting, where we were able to sell various items. We have also been at the Save the Children Christmas fairs in both Stratford and Leamington. Our wonderful trustee Ann, has also been busy selling Christmas cards (hand made by wonderful ambassador Sylvia), at home to friends and family. Through these sales we have taken over £600 - a fantastic contribution to our work in Africa.

Thank you to all those involved: to the crafters in South Africa, and Sylvia who lovingly makes cross-stitched cards; to our helpers on the stalls, Vicki Robson and trustees Ann and Marissa, to Save the Children and the Wrocestershire WI, and to all those who have purchased items or supported us at these various events.

Sylvia and Sandra do it again

Sylvia and Sandra do it again

Our wonderful ambassador Sylvia and cousin Sandra, have been busy selling again - all in aid of GAGA. This weekend they attended a fair and made £90 for us, by selling home made cakes, plants, crafts and other bits and pieces. How brilliant!

A huge thank you to these two wonderful ladies, for continuing their efforts in aid of a fantastic cause, and well done on such a successful weekend.

The Bidford Big Breakfast Success

The Bidford Big Breakfast Success

Another big thank you to the Rotary Club of Alcester Alauna.
Back in October they organised the Bidford Big Breakfast. This event has been going for a couple of years now and raises money for different local causes. Locals (and those passing Bidford), can pop in to Crawford Hall for a delicious cooked breakfast (for just £5!), and at the same time support some great charities.

This year, the club once again, chose to donate part of the money raised at the Breakfast, to GAGA UK. On Thursday evening Sarah went to collect a cheque at Budgens in Bidford. Budgens were incredibly supportive of the event.

The event raised money for 4 different causes, including the Dementia Cafe, and a toddlers group.

A huge thank you to the Rotary club for their very generous donation of £400 to GAGA UK, and for continuing to help us make a difference.

You can still be a part of something great...

You can still be a part of something great...

You can still enter the 100 Club!!

The Rotary Club of Woodstock and Kidlington have set up a 100 Club to raise funds for GAGA UK and the projects we support in Sierra Leone. Through this, the Rotary Club have already raised over £1500 for our work - how fantastic! But, they're still raising money and if you enter the 100 club, you also have a chance to win!

How does it work?

Simply complete the form attached here and you can be in with a chance of winning up to £68.75 every month. Each share is £27.50 (November 2015), and you can buy as many shares as you wish - the more you buy, the more chance you have of winning. Rules and more information can be found on the attached document. We already have over 100 members of the club - but shares are still available; the more shares that are purchased increases the prize amounts, as well as the amount coming to GAGA UK. Brilliant!

Thank you to the Rotary Club and all those who have already bought shares.

Good Luck!!
