St Johns Priory, Banbury

During the academic year 2010-11 the school raised £839.95 and the School have once again adopted “Ithembalihle” as their main charity for 2011- 2012.

This academic year got off to a great start with the “alternative harvest festival” appeal – all the children are given an envelope and are asked to decorate it in the “harvest “ theme and also make a donation if they wish.

A really simple idea which raised an amazing £370 - thanks to all the children & parents for their donations.

GAGA Trustee, Alan Wolstencroft presents Head Boy of St John’s Priory School, Ciaran Caulfield a certificate in recognition of the £370 raised at the “alternative harvest festival” appeal.

Cian Gerber celebrated his seventh birthday recently BUT he asked friends who were attending his party not to buy him a present but to donate money to the School’s chosen Charity “Ithembalihle” a small rural orphanage in South Africa. As a result of this superb gesture £65 was raised – a really big thank you to Cian and all his friends.

Christine breaks a record

One of our newest Ambassadors broke a new record for GAGA at a recent craft sale. Christine, who lives in London and has been an active campaigner and fundraiser for children in South Africa, is also on the Board of Governors at London Kings College Hospital.  She held the sale of the items we bring back from South Africa at the hospital, and made an astonishing £880. Well done Christine!!

GAGA’s Board agrees to support First Step Right again for another year

First Step Right Pre-School has been one of GAGA’s main projects during 2011 and the board of trustees has made a commitment to support the pre-school for the next year. GAGA has been working with local businesses in South Africa to increase support for their work. A well known and big business in the area has agreed to start working with the pre-school and it’s hoped in the future they will eventually fund the whole operation. For the present GAGA will work with them, and the pre-school, and guarantee the best outcome for the 100+ children who are educated there and the 5 teachers who are employed to deliver a first-class education to them. We will continue to keep you updated.

Foodies come out for Food Fayre

Foodies come out for Food Fayre

It was Evesham’s first Festive Food Fayre and despite obstacles which presented themselves on the day, it was a great event with about 300 – 400 people coming through the door. All stallholders were local food producers who were selling their wares which included beef pies, sausages, chutneys, cakes and biscuits and apple juice. The public also enjoyed some classic cooking demonstrations and the producers enjoyed the exposure that the Fayre provided. GAGA worked with another two local charities and the event has already been pencilled in for next year.

Sylvia slaves away for the children in South Africa

Sylvia slaves away for the children in South Africa

From the 1st of December Sylvia attended four sales in three days. Loading and unloading her car 8 times. Not only does she raise money for GAGA but awareness too. We are very lucky at GAGA to have so many active ambassadors and fundraisers. Sylvia also makes wonderful handcrafted cards which we sell for extra funds. We are always perplexed in the office to know where she gets the time. But we are all very happy she does.
