Ensuring Children Access Healthcare

Ensuring Children Access Healthcare

Towards the end of the year in 2016, a 4 year old boy was carried in to the 1000 Hills Clinic, by his mother. He had been attacked by a bull, close to his home. His leg was severely wounded, he was in shock and pain, and was bleeding heaving.

The bleeding was stopped, and he was given some treatment for the pain. He was also given a tetanus shot. The wound was cleaned and the boy was sent home with his mum.

A week later the boy returned, with his mum, for a quick check  up. The boy's mother was so grateful that there was somewhere she could take her son. She said she didn't know what she would have done had the clinic not been here. She had no means of taking him anywhere else for help.

Menzi Graduates, but the work doesn't stop there

Menzi Graduates, but the work doesn't stop there

Thanks to Menzi Zulu, who has shared a photo from his graduation yesterday.

Yesterday Menzi graduated with his degree in Criminology and Industrial Psychology, after being supported by some wonderful people, throughout his education.

He has now decided to complete a further year of studies, taking on a Diploma in HR. This will boost his chances of finding employment. A major donor and supporter of GAGA UK (through the Sangobeg Scholarship programme) has agreed to sponsor Menzi through these further studies, and we look forward to seeing what the future has in store for him.

Menzi sent this message of thanks: 'I would love to extend my deepest gratitude for the support you have given throughout my tertiary journey. I am still fighting the good fight (education) and will somehow conquer the circumstances faced in the past. I am absolutely thankful for your generosity and continued support. May you be blessed and continue to shape young minds and mold the youth of Africa for better lives. Many thanks, Menzi.'

Well done Menzi!

The HOLAH Hop Shop's new shop

The HOLAH Hop Shop's new shop

Last year we brought the news to you that we would be supporting the opening of HOLAH's new charity shop, the HOP Shop.
GAGA UK have supported HOLAH (House of Love and Hope), for a couple of years now and decided we wanted to help them out financially with this new project. The GAGA Board of Trustees decided to loan some money to HOLAH, to help set up this new business venture.

The profits from the shop are now helping to contribute towards the running costs of the baby home! (In addition, the money that HOLAH are paying back on their loan is going back in to other GAGA supported projects).

The HOP Shop sells a variety of donated items (which can't be used at the Baby Home), to the general public. They've been doing so well that they've recently had to move as they needed more space!! We love the look of their new shop which now also includes a coffee shop, helping to bring in more customers!

Great work HOLAH! Click here to go to the shop's Facebook page, and keep up to date with what's going on there.
