Securing a sustainable future for Ithembalihle

Securing a sustainable future for Ithembalihle

During Charlie and Alan's visit to south Africa they built a chicken coop and bought 6 chickens to become resident there. This was part of securing a sustainable future for Ithembalihle food supply. After two days the chickens were laying. We are hopeful the chickens will breed so that the supply can continue. We are using local expertise to help initiate this programme properly. Charlie and Alan built the chicken coop, with the help of everyone at Ithembalihle, and we are told its still standing!

GAGA Raises funds for Electricity Vending Machine in Ridge City

GAGA Raises funds for Electricity Vending Machine in Ridge City

When Charlie and Alan recently met the Founders of RidgeCity, Emily, Jake and Liz, they handed over a cheque to fix a vehicle which was desperately needed for them to run RidgeCity. Charlie and Alan were also accompanied by 3 GAGA ambassadors, the Morrison family, during this visit. Charlie and Alan sat down with the RidgeCity team and had a lengthy discussion about what was on their wish list and how GAGA could possibly help. During this meeting Jake told us about an electricity vending machine he wanted to install in RidgeCafe. He told us that many people have to travel 15-20 Km to top up their electricity card, and that it cost money to do this, he also explained that if the lights fail at 5pm, they cannot simply just go and top up their card. We asked him what would be the benefit to the community and he said that 17,000 people would directly benefit from it and 60,000 indirectly. It would mean that those on low incomes could save more money, and children wouldn't be left for long periods at home, or without lights to do homework. GAGA is now raising the funds for this machine and we hope to get it installed very quickly.
