The fabulous dress event sponsored by    

took place on Thursday 13th February 2020!

What a fabulous night! Preparations started in the afternoon, with the mammoth task of transporting 300 dresses from the Gemini shop in town to the DoubleTree! We transformed two conference rooms into a changing room and display room..... it's amazing what you can do with several pairs of curtains and a plentiful supply of cable ties! 

Time flew and soon the local businesses started to arrive to set up their tables.  

   

This transformed the foyer into an eclectic boutique with accessories from Sister Sister and Gemini and beautiful cosmetics from Diva Brows and Beauty, Harmony and makeupbyspr. The DoubleTree showcased their events offering and we setup a GAGA display and the raffle table.

The room layout was refined and flyers placed on all chairs for our main event sponsor anything for hire and the room was finally ready for the catwalk walkthrough.

Guests started to arrive and the room was quickly buzzing with excited chatter! There was a scramble for the best seats to view the catwalk and the function rooms came alive!

                 

Meanwhile, the models were getting ready!  Having had a trip to Debenhams Stratford-upon-Avon for their Catwalk Make Up they all looked stunning and were excited to get started!  

We showcased 50 dresses on the catwalk, each dress numbered so that the audience could make a note of their favourites, and Claire from Gemini  gave a detailed commentary on all of the dresses, fabrics, designs and fitting notes.  Elite Tailoring of Shrieves Walk Stratford upon Avon could not attend but their skills ensure that each dress can be adjusted to be a perfect fit! 

The models were amazing, for many it was their first modelling experience and their families were in the audience!  They were mostly from local high schools and proved themselves to be excellent ambassadors for their schools Stratford upon Avon School Shottery Girls School St Benedicts Alcester and themselves.

Our grateful thanks also go to these schools and others in the area who kindly promoted the event for us and to Stratford upon Avon School who invited me into the Y11 assembly to talk about the charity GAGA UK.

Soon after the catwalk we called the raffle and again many thanks to the amazing local businesses who supported us with a raffle prize and made this such a successful event! The success of events like this rely on the wholehearted support of the local community, businesses, volunteers and the public at large and we are very grateful to be based in a town like Stratford upon Avon where that will to support good causes is very strong.
