Every year between November and January we "yarnbomb" trees in the Bancroft Gardens and Holy Trinity churchyard in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.
*** Important*** Please add the names of your loved ones into the "delivery notes" section of the order!
This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, as we offer individuals and organisations the opportunity to celebrate the lives of their loved ones by dedicating a knitted or crochet square to a loved one's name. The squares are made into panels and the panels decorate the trees. The trees are not damaged by this and it provides a vibrant and eye-catching display in Stratford upon Avon's winter landscape. This year the cut-off date is the 18th November to be included in this year's project.
After the event, we remove the panels, wash and repair (if necessary) and make up blankets that we distribute to charitable institutions in the UK and in South Africa.
We also embellish the tree decoration with knitted stars and crochet baubles, and we love the connection with South Africa as the baubles are so reminiscent of the weaver bird nests!
After the event, we carefully pack up your bauble and send it to you, so you can enjoy it as part of your own Christmas decorations or even all year round in your home or garden!
As we come to the end of 2022 many of us are facing a challenging future, this is the case across the globe, especially in countries where inequality of healthcare and opportunity is the norm. Our Remembering Tree Project supports Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust who are at the sharp end of this challenge, can you help?
Thank you!
