Mandla is 18 years old, and he’s been a long-term resident at an orphanage in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He was brought to the orphanage at the age of 2 by his father who no longer had the means to care for him after his mother left the family.

Mandla is now faced with a bleak future without any support. The orphanage where he’s spent most of his life is closing down, and he has nowhere to go. He’s currently seeking refuge at the home of a local social worker who can not house him long-term.

GAGA is intervening to provide support for Mandla so that he can finish his final year of schooling in 2023 and receive the qualifications which will allow him to stand on his own two feet. We’re appealing to our supporters for £2,500 which will cover the costs to support Mandla through this final year until he receives his diploma and can begin life on his own as a young adult. This is such an important year in Mandla’s education that we feel on top of all the adversity he has faced in his life, we’re determined to alleviate the stresses of his final school year by providing him with some financial stability.

Mandla enjoys his business studies and arts classes at school, and is hoping to finish the year so that he can go to university to study film and art. He hopes to become a film producer one day, but he can’t do it without our help!

The fundraising target will cover school fees, rent for a small accommodation near his school, transport and subsistence. Please help us to support Mandla so that he can finish his final year and have the chance to thrive!
